News
The OECD Public Governance Review of the Czech Republic was finalized at the beginning of 2023, and on March 30 it was officially published by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, and the OECD Secretary General, Mathias Cormann. The following day, March 31, a ceremonial presentation of the contents of the Review took place with the participation of a wider professional public. The event was attended by high-profile representatives of the Czech public administration and Czech stakeholders who were involved in the creation of the Review, both from the state administration and from various non-profit organizations. At the event, the main conclusions and recommendations of the OECD were presented in more detail, followed by a discussion on the focus of the Program to support the implementation of the recommendations, which will run until the end of this year.
Project description
The main output of the project is the creation of the OECD Public Governance Review. This analysis will include OECD recommendations on how to improve the quality of public service delivery in each of the following areas, taking into account their availability, management efficiency and staffing:
-
Strategic management and design of public administration services
-
Evidence-based policy making
-
Public administration at local and regional level
-
Human resources in public administration
-
Digitization of public administration
In order to ensure the highest possible implementation of the recommendations, the Implementation Support Program will follow, which will include expert workshops with Czech experts and foreign experts (so-called "peers") and OECD experts, where specific options for implementing the recommendations will be discussed.
To increase the practical impact of the project, two training programes will be implemented in parallel with the creation of the Public Governance Review. These training activities are based on previous OECD recommendations and are fully in line with the concept of Client-Oriented Public Administration 2030. The training programs will focus on developing the competencies of public administration analysts and improving the pro-client approach of public administrations.
