Project for support of information literacy in Zambia finished
Ministry of the Interior has successfully finished one of its developmental projects aimed at closing the digital divide
NkombaThe main goal of this training course was to provide knowledge in using information technologies and internet for 40 students from the village schools of Nkomba, Kings, Shamilimo and Sala and also to secure conditions for maintaining and further developing of their newly obtained skills.
The course took place from June to July 2009 in Nkomba. The Ministry of the Interior supported this project by providing the technological equipment and the tutor. Young students often showed their enormous interest in subject of information technologies during the course.
The ending ceremony at the end of July has been attended by Jiří Průša, Czech instructor, Richard Mwanza, Director of Communication Authority of Zambia and Goodfrey Mukandabantu, Principal of Nkomba school and has been documented by Zambian TV station ZNBC.
Althought this was the first project in Zambia, Czech Ministry of the Interior has previously realized similar projects in Kenya and Uganda. This project has been prepared in collaboration with International Telecommunication Union and UNESCO.
