  • INFORMATION FOR HOLDERS OF THE SO CALLED CANADIAN VISAS (TYPE V1 OR W2) ISSUED TO PERSONS FLEEING UKRAINE
The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic announces that the so-called "Canadian visa" V1 or W2 ("Temporary Resident Visa") issued to persons fleeing Ukraine before February 10th, 2023 will not be an obstacle to the extension of the temporary protection. This practice was agreed because of the fact that so called Canadian visas were issued before the Act No. 175/2022 Sb., which dealt with the conflict between visas and temporary protection came into force.
Nevertheless, visas type W2 issued after February 10th, 2023 will be an obstacle to the extension of the temporary protection.
If your temporary protection in the Czech Republic has already been terminated due to the existence of a Canadian visa, you can still reapply for the temporary protection.
The existence of a marked Canadian visa is still an obstacle to the first grant of temporary protection in the Czech Republic.
Participation in the USA programme Uniting for Ukraine is not, by its nature, an obstacle to the extension of the temporary protection.
The existence of a "visitor" visa issued by the UK with a validity of up to 6 months is not an obstacle to the extension of temporary protection.
A visa designated as a "Ukraine Scheme" visa is an obstacle, regardless of its validity.
